Yes Travel: why a butterfly
It exists only one insect, which is able to fly thousands of kilometres from North to South to escape the rigours of the winter and to retrace the same route back in spring: it is the Monarch Butterfly!
Its annual migration studied by biologists and admired by tourists all over the world is an extraordinary phenomenon, unique in nature and up to now immersed in mystery.
Every autumn, the butterflies prepare to migrate: those, which live in the West of the United States, travel to the forests of the Californian coast, while those, which are found on the eastern side of the Rocky Mountains, are directed to Mexico.
Only the Monarch Butterflies that are born in the period between the end of the summer and the beginning of autumn do the long travel to the South. There exist also other traveling butterflies in the world, but actually they only depart for their destination while the return is up to the next generation: only the Monarch Butterfly is able to complete the whole travel – the return ticket included.
What if not a butterfly, traveller of more than 5,500 kilometres, whose beat of wings, as the saying goes, influences important natural events in the world, could better represent Yes Travel?
